Kudos to Alternative Humane Society!! I myself fostered 10 dogs for this agency which has no paid staff, fundraises to support the vet bills and other needs of dogs until placed. In addition, AHS has established many positive collaborative connections in our own community as well as with shelters, pilots, and rescuers from other states and Canada to give animals a good outcome. For minimal cost to adopters, our dogs are neutered, immunized, microchipped and made as healthy as possible before placement in qualified homes.
Additionally, I’d just like to say what a boon participating in AHS has given my life. As a single, older woman I have really benefitted from the community and people connections, the learning about breeds and needs of these animals, the companionship and love of the dogs I rescued. I got as much as I gave. So greatful AHS is here is Bellingham. Just one more reason to call us the City of Subdued Excitement.

I love the Alternative Humane Society! We’ve adopted our two dogs from them. They are so careful to make sure that the dogs and family are a good match for each other. It shows their love for the animals to make sure they have a loving forever home!
