Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter

Very caring shelter that puts the animals first!

I have been a fan of Ayres since 2000 when I got my first dog from them. My Theo was a shy hound who didn’t want to eat very much but he was in very good shape. My vet at the time said he was the first adopted dog they had seen in such good shape. To keep Theo company we got Lola a who was a shepherd mix. She was followed by Jared (now Jerry) and Clover. As you can see I love Ayres and have been getting dogs there for 17 years.

I love Ayres. I have adopted twice from them. My dog Sasha is the best thing that ever happened to me. I can’t say enough positive about everyone at Ayres.

Ayres animal shelter is a total amazing shelter! The staff are absolute angels and take such good care of all of the animals. I’ve adopted from them and I would recommend anyone who is looking for a new pet to add to the family to go there.

Four years ago my family was looking for another dog to add to our family. The people at this shelter were very supportive and patient with us. Helping us find the perfect fit for us and our current animals. You could tell they truly cared and were passionate in their love of the animals in their care. They helped us find the perfect companion for our existing dogs. Four years later we are loving our adopted furry kids and owe our thanks to the staff at this shelter. Truly an amazing place and group of people

Ayres has been such an incredible place for both my dogs and I. They first came into my life 4 and a half years ago when I was looking for a dog after I graduated from college. Oriana was perfect and the Ayres staff was so loving! They told me her story and were very patient with me! Fast forward 3 years and I finish grad school. I started to volunteer at Ayres and that’s when I was really able to see that this is so much more than a shelter. It’s a home, obedience school, toy emporium, peanut butter capital of New York, and so much more. Every time I would take a dog for an outing they were so happy to return to thei4 “home”! I even broke my 1 dog limit and adopted another perfect dog for my family! Marissa and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and are never really off the clock. They’re so giving and thoughtful, and these animals couldn’t be in a better place until they find their forever home! Ayres has given me two of my best friends and I’ve made some wonderful friends in the people who run it as well. I will forever be a fan!

Ayres shelter is the best shelter out there. They are a quality of life shelter and even have their dogs in training classes held at the shelter with an experienced dog trainer. The shelter also has a very homey atmosphere and the dogs even get to hang out in the office with the staff! They look into each adopting family to ensure the pet is going to a safe home that will work for them. There are also volunteers who take the dogs on outings and they have a lot of human interaction! I really can’t say enough good things about Ayres and their staff!

I can’t say enough good things about Ayres! They are so loving and caring to each and every animal they come across. I have been a fan for 4 years now since I got my dog from them and refer everyone I know to them if looking for a pet! They are fabulous there!

I am a huge fan of Ayres Animal Shelter because of the amazing staff there and the Wonderful job they do in treating the animals with love and as though they were their own. Every animal that is rescued by them is truly lucky. They are an awesome shelter, definitely one that should be acknowledged for their hard work!

Ayres animal shelter is one of the best shelters around! For many of the dogs it doesnt even seem like a shelter. They have so many great volunteers who treat the dogs like their own and take them on outings on a weekly basis. 5 stars!

I truly can’t say enough good things about Ayres. They are 100 percent ALL about the animals, which is exactly how it should be! The atmosphere at the shelter is just filled with so much warmth and love, and I know if I can feel that, the animals most definitely can too! ❤️ The world needs more genuinely compassionate, caring people like Marissa and Rich at Ayres, whose tireless dedication to animals shines through in everything they do. They have hearts of gold. ❤

The Staff Always goes above and beyond!

The staff at Ayres are amazing!! They strive to make the shelter home until they find a forever home!!

The staff there are so dedicated and so appreciative of everything the receive and put so much of their own into giving the animals there the best they can.

I absolutely love Ayres Shelter. Their staff, volunteers, and caretakers are a wonderful source of knowledge, love, dedication, and passion. They are constantly working on ways to bring their animals at the shelter to adoption clinics, into the community, training facilities, and walks. Their staff prove they are dedicated with basic obedience training and state of mind training to advocate their dogs find the right family and make adoptions successful.

RyLee enjoys his visits to the cat room. He makes friends with every cat there. The staff is outstanding and truly dedicated to all creatures. RyLee Loves Ayres Memorial Shelter and they love him.

I really think the people running the shelter do an amazing job. They really care about the animals, not only in the shelter but also in the community. They go above and beyond. It’s not just a job to them, but a commitment.

Ayres “Shelter” should be called Ayres Home away from Home. These animals are cared for better than many owners. They are walked by volunteers, given peanut butter by the jars… love, attention and compassion. If I could give them a 1,000 Stars I would. 🙂
