Dr. Kern of Balsam Animal Hospital has been my go to vet close to 25 years. From the moment you walk in the door and the staff greets you you can tell this veterinarian really cares. Over the years he, his staff, and his new veterinary partner, has seen all six of my fur family, from Jeremiah, the Shelter, Forest Hunter, a Plott Hound, Lucy, my lovely Rhodisian Ridgeback, and three house cats, Henson, Abbriella, and Malachi. He doesn’t rush you through an appointment just to see the next client…he takes time explaining and answering your questions and becomes friends with your pets from the start. It’s nice to see there are still doctors that really understand your pets personality and generally cares for every “patient” that enters his clinic including the human ones who are the caregivers. Out of the many veterinarians to choose from in Western North Carolina, Balsam Animal Hospital is by far the best.
