BRT- Academy of Dance & Music

Am a Fan of BRT, because of the colourful performances they have given us. They have never hesitated to experiment themselves. And all the above, the Teachers in BRT are fabulous. A special mention to my dear lovable friend, Shylaja for her passion toward the dance and her amazing talent.

I’m a big fan of BRT, because the teacher is very talented and does innovative choreography!! The beauty about the teacher is she choreographs not only to the beat of music, but tailors to the uniqueness of each student to bring out their own pros in stage performances!! BRT gives an opportunity to bring students to come up with their own ideas in Choreography! BRT teaches the most classical heritage dance of India!

I like brt for a lot of reasons. One of them is the way they teach, like it’s not just learning dance you have a good time and make jokes and stuff. And having the opportunity to perform on stage is really great. – Aishu

They teach the ancient traditional dance form of Bharatnatyam. The students learn from teachers who are highly trained and passionate about this dance.

Great school. AMAZING teacher who is fun, passionate, and dedicated in giving the students a solid dance foundation, building confidence, which provides great opportunities to perform and showcase their abilities. My daughter has been fortunate to be a part of this school. Through the guidance and encouragement of her teacher, she had the opportunity to take part in competitions, win awards, and perform in numerous shows. Thank you Shylaja. It is a great place to experience dance and music.

BRT Academy of dance and music is one of the best dance schools in Canada in my opinion. After establishment of the school, in a very short period the school has grown and got expanded tremendously. I tried to think about the reason for this super-fast paced growth. A large number of reasons as follows came to my mind: Top quality of arts, teachers’ talent and teaching capacity, interest and motivation of the school towards arts, flexibility with consideration for the timings and career path of the students, I have heard and seen several students of BRT including my own daughter started liking to learn music and dance once they got enrolled into BRT academy. The students get highly passionate and interested with the dance and/or music and practicing at home. “When you like to do something, you enjoy doing it” – right? The very important thing I like the most about BRT is its professionalism, high standard and quality. The quality of the dance is at such a top level where they conduct annual progress reviews and provide them with feed back with comments and reviews on their progress. After the students reach certain level of learning dance they conduct exams (salangai pooja) and qualify them for the next level. This exams have both theory and practical (Performance in front of audience). They had external examiners to examine the quality of the students and allow them to proceed to the next level only if they qualify. The venue where BRT teaches dance is a great asset which is a professional dance studio located at a place very easily accessible. In addition, the school is highly active and have been participating every year in various occasions such as Folklorama festival in Winnipeg (India Pavilion as well as Tamil Pavilion), Diwali Mela, Thiyagaraja aradhana festival etc.. In addition, the BRT students have been invited to perform in several community festivals throughout the year. I can imagine how busy the teacher will be!!! Furthermore, the BRT academy has been conducting annual shows which are well received by the audience. BRT academy conducted a huge dance show in winnipeg “Krishnaleela” at a prefessional level. This show was the first of this kind where both music and dance altogether were performed by the students of BRT. The reviews and comments of my own as well as other were great for this dance show and I heard the BRT has been invited to perform the show again in Winnipeg this year. This show was a big hit and the show was highly professional. It is hard to believe that it was done by students and not professionals. All these criteria have built a huge audience and people are eagerly awaiting performances from BRT. Hard work never fails!!! BRT has been participating in several dance competitions (Canadian Naitonal Dance Competition, Thunder struck. I do not recall more than these competitions) and won several awards. As a parent, I am happy to see my child learning arts with huge interest at the same time with highly talented and safer hands. At a very early age, the child learns lot and get opportunities to perform similar to professionals. I am a proud parent to have my daughter as a student of BRT academy.

I may be biased, but BRT prides itself in providing quality dance and music education, fostering discipline, focus and dedication in its students, while also treating each and every student (and their loved ones) as part of one big happy family 🙂
