Critter Camp Exotic Pet Sanctuary

Critter Camp takes in abandoned exotic pets and gives them a good home where they can be themselves and never have to worry about people mistreating them.

Although I live in Australia, I’ve known and regularly chat online with Critter Camp’s founder and manageress, Beth Randall, since 2009. Over the years, I have developed a profound admiration and respect for Critter Camp’s ethics and activities. So much so, that I sponsor one of their animals. Critter Camp takes in and cares for species that no-one else seems to have the time, space or knowledge to care for – the exotics. I’ve always had a soft spot for defenders of the “under dog” or, in this case, the under chinchilla, ferret, fox, guinea pig, gerbil, mink, parrot, tortoise, rabbit… well, you get the idea. The fact that many of the animals Critter Camp takes in are also geriatric and/or have health and behavior issues due to previous neglect, abuse or multiple rehomings, makes me even prouder of their efforts to provide these animals with a comfortable home for life. Each animal receives the highest standard of care based on their individual needs. Beth researches each species and does her very best to provide a diet, housing, companionship and enrichment which will optimize each animal’s health and wellbeing. Considering how many different species Critter Camp cares for, this is a considerable knowledge base which Beth is also happy to share with the public through school talks and online forums. Can’t praise this genuine “sanctuary” and the humans who run it highly enough.

Despite personal challenges, Beth has opened her home to so many critters who would have either died or suffered a fate worse than death. She moves hell and high water not only to take excellent care of them – making sure they are fed, warm, loved and receiving necessary veterinary care but also takes time to advocate on their behalf on social media AND educating the public on these animals and why some of them should never be pets.

Talk about caring for the little guy no one thinks of! This is a really unique rescue that cares for exotic pets. The owner of this rescue is incredibly hard working and the story of how they got started is really sweet. Each animal is cared for and loved.

Critter Camp serves the urgent need to house and care for animals that are less likely to receive rescue due to their species. It’s wonderful that Critter Camp is there to help these often forgotten animals.

Critter Camp has personally helped me when I lost my home. I had a number of exotic pets, including rabbits, degus, and a chipmunk that they were able to provide a forever home for. My animals lived the rest of their days in comfort and love without ever being put in jeopardy. Critter Camp not only helps animals, they help the people these animals are most important to!

I am a raving fan! Beth Randall has literally opened her home to hundreds of unadoptable, or hard to adopt, small birds and animals. These \”critters\” would be left for dead if it weren\’t for her care, kindness, and generous loving spirit. I send her as much money as I can for the work she does. I love seeing her posted pictures every day and sending them across the country, and the world, for that matter. The work she does is amazing!
