We recently adopted our dog from Lu’s Labs. They have a thorough and thoughtful process that helped us find the best dog for our family. Everyone we dealt with from the adoption coordinator to the foster family couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful! A great organization that truly cares about finding dogs a good forever home.

We are in the process of adopting a dog from Lu’s. They have been nothing but fantastic, from the application process to now. Our coordinator, Debbie, is just the best. We had to put down my Chocolate lab, KoKodes. I am now in the process with Lu’s Labs to give another lab his/her forever home! I am excited but I know this may take a while. I could go “buy” a lab tomorrow, but there are too many out there that need someone like me!!

Lu’s Labs is an awesome organization that always puts the dogs first. 100% volunteer driven, Lu’s Labs is structured, organized, and fun to work with. Lu’s Labs is a wonderful rescue organization. They thoroughly vet prospective adopters to ensure that theses Labs will be loved and well cared for. The adoption coordinator, home assessment volunteer and foster mom were accommodating and helpful. They all do this out of their compassion and love for Labs who need a good home. They have saved many a pup from a kill shelter and or a deplorable, lonely existence in a shelter. We adopted a wonderful puppy last year and could not be happier.

I recently became a Lu’s Labs foster mommy and it’s been an absolute joy having these pups around and helping to make sure they have loving, stable “fur-ever” homes. I can’t say enough good things about Lu and the rest of the crew at Lu’s Labs. The health, safety and overall well-being of every dog they rescue are of the utmost importance, and they’d rather get it done “right” than “fast.”

We enjoy the company of a fantastic Lu’s Lab — Rex was about 5 years old when we adopted him and he is a total delight. Lu’s Lab is a terrific organization staffed by generous, caring volunteers who bring this area wonderful furry friends needing a home from down South. Our Rex is from South Carolina and has become a real Virginia gentleman, a sweet and gentle companion.

Love Love Love Lu’s Labs! Luisa loves all of the dogs that she rescues and really puts their needs above anything else! They pull dogs from high-kill shelters down south and transport them north to be adopted. The adoption process is lengthy- but that’s a good thing! Amazing rescue!!!

My tripod black lab Tony was destined friend euthanasia because of his neglect and injuries. Lu\’s Labs rescued him and made him well. He is just as good with three legs as four. Their Facebook page is constantly updated with the stories and faces of the labs in transport/arriving, as well as “happy tails” from families and their Lu’s Labs alums. Lu’s Labs has a unique purpose and approach to Labrador Retriever rescue: it finds labbies in the Deep South where there are far too many in crowded and underfunded shelters, and finds them homes in the DC area. Along the way, Lu’s Labs finds people to foster the labbies in their home states, people to provide transportation along the various routes up to DC, foster families when the labbies arrive to DC, and veterinary care at all stages. Lu’s has dedicated adoption coordinators to approve adopters and assist them in adopting a labby. I wholly recommend Lu’s Labs for this award!

Lu’s Labs offers a great community of knowledgeable volunteers. They heavily vet both the dogs and the adopters in order to match them best. I adopted a lab through them and was so impressed by the process and experience that I became a volunteer. Our lab has been such a wonderful addition to our family and we couldn’t be happier. 🙂

Lu’s Labs rescues so many beautiful dogs every year, including my Bella. They remove dogs from shelters and horribly abusive situations and give them a new life. They thoroughly vet potential adopters by conducting in-depth interviews and home inspections. Their adoption coordinators and foster parents work so hard to place dogs in loving homes. I’m still in touch with my AC Janis and she’s become a friend. This organization loves these dogs and puts their welfare above all else. It is truly a pleasure to write a review on their behalf. There’s a place in heaven for the people that make this their life’s work.

Lu’s Labs is an animal rescue with good people that really love dogs. They rescue dogs from kill shelters and transport them somewhere that’s safe, where the dogs can be adopted. They also foster dogs, help dogs get medical treatment and work with families that are adopting. These are good people that give their time, money, homes, and love to help dogs and ask for nothing in return. Lu’s Labs is proof there are still good people in this world and they inspire me to make a difference too.

I have followed Lu’s Labs since their inception. I transport for their rescue, helping to bring their rescued dogs to their organization. This rescue goes above and beyond in taking care of their dogs. While in foster homes they are always treated like family pets and no expense is spared for their care. They also go above and beyond for their adopters, currently helping one adoptive family with medical expenses. Once a Lu’s dog always a Lu’s dog! Love this rescue.

Lu’s Labs is fantastic! I live in an area that breeds Labrador retrievers to the point of saturation. Hundreds of beautiful dogs end up in our high kill shelter monthly. Lu’s Labs has stepped up and helped local rescues save many of those labs and give them a second chance at love.

I started driving rescue transport several years ago. As the number of drives I made increased, I noticed that I gravitated to this particular rescue for several reasons. They run a top notch organization and put the dogs first. I know when I am transporting for Lu’s Labs that the dog is going to an amazing home and will never be abandoned again. They will do whatever medically and emotionally that is needed for EACH foster dog. Once a Lu’s Lab dog, always a Lu’s Lab dog!

I adopted my bonded pair from Lu’s Labs in early 2016. The adoption process was fair and the volunteers really went the extra mile to ensure a good match. Since then I have become a volunteer for Lu’s myself. This is a great organization that is more of a family than anything. Lu’s Labs is a top notch fairly new (2 years old) rescue that makes the needs of the dogs it rescues paramount. They ensure the health and happiness of each dog by vetting the applicants for responsible ownership and matching the needs and wants of the family with the needs and personality of the dogs.
