Great Bakery….Enormous tasty meat pies…I head from Cairns to Gordonvale most Fridays to grab a pie or 2…Not much of a sweets person, but what is on display looks amazing…Always a busy place….A great testimony to the quality of their products.

In the historic and quaint town square of a the sugar mill town of Gordonvale, nestled between four rustic, quintessential Australian country pubs, you can find another rare Aussie icon, a tradional bakery – Piefection. However, Gordonvale is not famous merely for being the town that gave Australia the cane toad, this tiny country bakery produces the tastiest, heartiest and most generous pies in Queensland. My favourite is their traditional steak and kidney – chunky, heavy, moistness wrapped in the best pastry north of Melbourne. Do yourselves a favour – pull off th Bruce Highway, drive into the town square, grab one of these amazing pies, may be even a sausage roll, and a couple of vanilla slices. Then cross over the road and sit on one of the cane toad statues while you transport yourself to food heaven.

We met both Alan and Linda and they were very friendly to my family and gave us maps of the area and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great holiday. Food is 5 star along with all there staff. If there were more bakery’s like this one Australia would be a better place

What I love the most about this quaint little bakery is the quality of the goods… everything is always fresh! Their chunky meat pies are HUGE and delicious. Their sweets are amazing (especially the fresh cream donuts… mmmmmm). These guys deserve to win as they are extremely hard working and their service is always very friendly.
