My entire family are huge fans of Southside Animal Shelter. We adopted our purebred mutt Sammy from them in June 2004. Sammy will be 12 in April and acts like he is 2 years old. All the volunteers are always so friendly and helpful when we go there to donate items. My daughter Maria volunteered there as a teenager, and has again begun volunteering whenever she can, even with her busy life now. She absolutely loves Southside! And if they keep putting those adorable pics of available dogs on Facebook, looking so happy and sweet, I know I’ll be there adopting again real soon! They do fantastic work saving these sweet dogs and cats…and it’s all done with lots of love!

They are amazing and do so much to help the homeless pets of Indianapolis!! They provide love and care to the animals on the streets or in a kill shelter that would otherwise not have a chance at life, the life every living being deserves. Every person involved in the daily operation at and through Southside Animal Shelter is an angel on earth!! Thank you and God bless!!!

My mom started supporting Southside Animal Shelter MANY years ago and I have tried to follow in her footsteps. They are a WONDERFUL place and do so much for the cats and dogs of Indianapolis. Rosie Ellis and her board love all those little guys and provide the best for them. Adoptions happen all the time as they are well taken care of before put up for adoption. THE BEST!

I have spent a lot of ours there. I can definitely say the entire staff goes beyond anything you can imagine for the care of all of the animals. Also, adopted a dog from Southside Animal Shelter.

Southside Animal Shelter truly cares about animals, and it really shows in all they do for not only the animals in their shelter but strays in their community as well. I have been to this shelter often and the animals are well taken care off. The staff and volunteers are awesome. I will be adopting my next pet from their shelter, and would recommend anyone to do the same.
